Kanjiramattom Mosque (Kochi)

Kanjiramattom mosque is the place located inย 25 km southeast of Kochi city of Kerala state. It is a suburban are of the city of Kochi.

The place is well known for the Sheikh Fariddudin mosque, and its proximate to the Arayankavu temple.

The mosque is famous for the Kodikuthu, and it is the famous festival of this temple celebrated at the time 13 – 14 January at every year. It is the important religious festival for the Kerala citizens. At the time of festival the whole place is decorated by the light and decoration materials.

People are collected here at a large scale and celebrate the festival. The festival is celebrated by the many of events and stories based on the old time by the rituals.

The main event of the festival is the Chandankkudam that having meaning is sandalwood pot. This event is proceeding at the time of night by pilgrims that carry pots covered by the Chandan and sandalwood and precede the procession to the mosque.

Elephant decoration, Muslim art forms of Kolkali, Duffmuttu are staged and folk performances are played in this night. The reason of popularity of this festival is, the people of various religions are participating in this festival.
