Periyar Lake (Thekkady)

Thekkady is the place situated in Kerala on the border of Kerala and Tamil-Nadu. It is most famous for its dense forest and evergreen nature. Periyar Lake is also situated in this place. This is the only lake that provides water to whole Thekkady wildlife sanctuaries to prevent them from the damage and make them evergreen.

All the animals in wildlife sanctuaries also used the water of Lake. There is also a Lake place resort to stay here for some time due to tired.

This place also included so many large grasslands for greenery in which savanna grassland is most famous. There are different type of flora and fauna to make the atmosphere fit to live.

Periyar is known for its abundant wildlife and avian reserves. The exceptional flora and fauna of the region draws many Nature lovers and researchers to it. It is also home to many endangered species like the Nilgiri Tahr and the Lion-tailed Macaque.

The more than hundreds of species of birds here include the Great Pied Hornbill, Sunbirds, various species of mynas, cuckoos, Bulbuls, woodpeckers, kingfishers and so on. Herds of elephants, Gaur, Sambar deer, Barking deer, Mouse deer, wild dogs, tigers, various types of reptiles and so on are found here.
